Register for a Tournament

Overview

The live BowlBoard registration flow is a multi-step wizard. It is no longer a single squad confirmation page.

Both account holders and guests can register, but the entry path is slightly different at the start.

Before You Begin

  • Make sure the tournament is open for self-registration.
  • If you are registering as a guest, you need access to your email inbox.
  • If the organization requires consent for your data, BowlBoard may prompt for that before you can continue.

Step 1: Choose How To Start

From the tournament page, click Register Now.

The current entry page gives you three choices:

  • Sign in to register
  • Create an account
  • Continue as guest

Guest flow

If you continue as a guest:

  1. Enter your email.
  2. Complete the verification challenge if prompted.
  3. Click Email me a link.
  4. Open the email BowlBoard sends and use the link to continue.

Step 2: Select Squads

On the Register page:

  1. Expand each event card.
  2. Select the squads you want.
  3. Review the live Total Due (Entry Fees) amount.
  4. Click Continue.

Important current behavior

  • BowlBoard prevents you from selecting two squads from different events that start at the same time.
  • Locked or closed squads still appear, but the page labels them instead of letting you change them.

Step 3: Set Up Teams When Needed

If any selected squad is a team event, BowlBoard can send you to Set Up Your Teams.

From there you can:

  • set the team name
  • invite teammates from BowlBoard search
  • invite teammates by email
  • skip team setup for now and finish later

If you are joining an existing team instead of creating one, BowlBoard shows that summary and lets you continue.

Step 4: Choose Side Pots and Preferences

On Side Pots & Preferences, BowlBoard lets you choose eligible options for each squad, such as:

  • scratch or handicap brackets
  • scratch or handicap eliminator
  • Match Play
  • All-Events when eligible
  • lane partner request for singles events

What you see depends on the tournament, squad settings, and cutoff times.

Step 5: Choose How You Will Pay

If payment choices are needed, BowlBoard opens Choose How You'll Pay.

This page lets you tell BowlBoard which items you want to:

  • pay now in the app
  • pay later at the desk
  • leave as externally managed when that is how the side pot is tracked

Step 6: Review and Confirm

On Review & Confirm, BowlBoard summarizes:

  • squads
  • side pots
  • All-Events
  • pay-now totals
  • desk-payment totals
  • payments already recorded
  • any cancellations you are making to an existing registration

Click Confirm Registration to finalize.

What Happens Next

  • If there is an online charge due now, BowlBoard can route you to Stripe.
  • If no online charge is due, the registration is finalized without Stripe.
  • Guests keep using their emailed link to resume or edit the registration later.
  • Signed-in users can return through Edit Registration from the tournament list or tournament page.

Notes

  • BowlBoard can remove a selected squad during final confirmation if its registration cutoff passes before you finish.
  • Team-captain transfer may be required if you cancel a team registration where you are the current captain.
  • The review page explicitly warns that refunds are not issued automatically when cancelling paid items.

Troubleshooting

I started as a guest and lost the page

Use the emailed resume link BowlBoard sent to you.

I cannot select two squads that start at the same time

That is expected. The current app blocks overlapping event selections at the same start time.

I do not see a payment step

BowlBoard skips it when there is nothing to choose or nothing due online.
